NSF Workshops on the Future of Observatories in the Social Sciences

This series of workshops is considering ways in which NSF investments in a system of social observatories could transform social, behavioral, and economic studies.

With the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, Sandra Hofferth, University of Maryland, and Emilio Moran, Indiana University, are coordinating a series of Workshops, attended by leading scientists from social, behavioral and economic (SBE) disciplines. The goal of the workshops is to consider ways in which major new NSF investments in a system of observatories might benefit and potentially transform these fields. So far four workshops have been held, on December 16-17, 2010, on October 12-13, 2011, on February 8-9, 2012, and on May 15-16, 2012.
