Joseph Richardson comments on upsurge in gun violence

Fox News Baltimore's Brad Bell investigated a surge in gun violence in Prince Georges County, Maryland during the last year. He turned to Faculty Associate Joseph Richardson for context:

Professor Richardson says unemployment is high, students aren’t in school, social media beefs are spilling onto the streets, violence prevention programs are dormant and in areas where crime is high distrust of police plays a role.
“Everyone has become more armed because of the climate. So as we see more murders and they’re happening in a concentrated area and more people cannot rely on the police, are told 'don’t call the police,' then they say ‘I have to take whatever form of justice into my hands so will require me to carry a gun, ’” says Richardson,
