Rashawn Ray: Mental health professionals essential to police work

Baltimore Sun story reports police shooting

Colin Campbell and Lillian Reed, writing in the Baltimore Sun, report the story of a person suffering a "behavioral crisis" and his subsequent shooting by Baltimore police officers. Faculty Associate Rashawn Ray told the authors, “A lot of police officers wouldn’t necessarily want to be responding to these calls. There’s a way to restructure things where mental health specialists are responding to this initially.”
