Haltiwanger comments on business formation in Bloomberg Quint
Writing in Bloomberg Quint, Michael Sasso and Steve Matthews write that entrepreneurs may be weathering the COVID-19 economic crush better than other businesses. In a June 25, 2020, article they stated that, "New business formation has rebounded quickly in parts of the country, raising hopes for a stronger-than-expected recovery." High propensity business applications have "rebounded surprisingly in some states," they write.
In an interview, Faculty Associate John Haltiwanger told Bloomberg, “For the parts of the country where we see this rapidly turn up, it’s a very good sign. Quite strikingly, the South is doing better. I think what this is suggesting is a very uneven recovery, and I don’t know whether I fully understand why.”
