Congressional Black Caucus members called on to fight environmental injustice affecting poor black neighborhoods

Stephen Lee, Tiffany Stecker, and Dean Scott reporting for Bloomberg, detailing how poor black neighborhoods will be mostly affected by the climate change: "they are hit first and hit worst." Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are working on these issues, calling for solutions such as increasing housing insurance and flood insurance coverage, building up more affordable housing, as well as expanding community green space for the hot urban neighborhoods.

Faculty Associate Sacoby Wilson from the School of Public Health also emphasizes that the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) should step up further to lead the movement toward environmental justice: "Maybe it’s the current politics that has limited their effectiveness. It’s the communities who’ve been on top of the climate justice issue."
