Statistical Software Training Courses

The MPRC Scientific and Technical Core offers training in SAS, R, and Stata. Periodically, MPRC will host courses on special topics such as multiple imputation, event history models, and complex survey analysis.

About the Training

MPRC offers multiple-week, non-credit SAS, Stata, and R training courses. The classes are open to MPRC affiliated faculty and students, and course offerings will focus on SAS, Stata, and R topics relevant to population research.

2024 Spring Offerings


Introduction to R:  This will be a series of three workshops introducing R.  The first workshop will discuss basic concepts and R vocabulary such as objects, functions, libraries and working directories.  The next workshop will discuss options for modeling in R and cleaning output.  The final workshop will cover graphing in R primarily using the ggplot2 package.

Conducting a Power Analysis: This workshop will discuss the fundamentals of conducting power analyses.  Most of the workshop will use Stata but will also touch on options available in other programs such as G*Power and R.
