Maureen Cropper comments on new climate plan
In a detailed Vox report, David Robert carefully examines the new Clean Power plan proposed by the Trump administration in June. He argues this new resource plan will inevitably bring more harm than expected, causing even more sever air pollution and greater health costs.
To make matters worse, when calculating the current value of future climate change benefits, EPA is now using a 7 percent discount rate in its cost-benefit analysis. According to Faculty Associate Maureen Cropper, “If you use a rate above 5 percent, you’re essentially saying that we shouldn’t worry today about anything that happens 100 years from now,” speaking with the New York Times reporter Brad Plumber.
