Sayer’s findings important element of new report

Moms with husbands, live-in male partners are sleeping less and doing more housework than single mothers.

Katie Delong, writing for Fox 6 Now in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reports on two studies about mothers' work. A recent University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee study finds that mothers with a husband or live-in male partner tend to sleep less and do more housework than single mothers. The second, conducted by Faculty Associate Liana Sayer, along with collegues Joanna Pepin, UT Austin, and Lynne Casper, UCLA, finds that single and partnered mothers spend the same amount of time looking after their children, but the difference relies on married mothers who are more likely to sacrifice their leisure time and sleep to do more housework when compared to single and divorced mothers.
