Family diversity key to understanding marriage trends
Marketwatch article reports changes in single motherhood since 1992
Reductions in the number of children living in two-parent households; increases in the number of children living in single-parent homes, and increasing poverty in that instance; soaring rates single mothers in college, taking longer to graduate. . . .
"You could look at all this as a decline of traditional mariage but I think it's better described as an increase in family diversity," commented Faculty Associate Philip Cohen in an article written by Quentin Fottrell for Marketwatch. "There's been an explosion of family diversity in the last half century."
