Free statistical software training for MPRC faculty and students

Upcoming workshops: Introduction to ArcGIS 10 and Introduction to Generalized Linear Mixed Models using PROC GLIMMIX

MPRC offers free statistical software training courses and workshops for affiliated faculty and students each semester. MPRC will offer two free workshops (Introduction to ArcGIS 10 and Introduction to Generalized Linear Mixed Models using PROC GLIMMIX) this fall.

MPRC also offers intense three to five week training classes in SAS and Stata each semester and during the summer. The classes are intended for graduate students studying in MPRC-affiliated departments, and course exercises focus on SAS and Stata programming using data sets used in population research.

Increasingly, faculty and graduate students demand higher level training on specific computational issues. As a result, the Computing Core plans to expand its course offerings to more advanced topics, including Computing Models with Correlated Error Structures using AML, Calculating Standard Errors for Models with Complicated Error Structures using Stata, Using ERISA products for Geographic Analysis and Data Construction, and Parallel and Distributed Computing using Matlab and Intel Math Kernel Libraries.

Courses are open to affiliated MPRC students and faculty members. Class space is limited and pre-registration is required.  Please contact Yeats Ye at 301-405-1858 or email to hye@umd.edu if you have any questions.

Upcoming workshops:

  • Introduction to Generalized Linear Mixed Models using PROC GLIMMIX: October 30, 2:00-3:30 PM
  • Introduction to ArcGIS 10: November 6 and 13, 2:00-3:30 PM
