About the Presentation for the Fall 2020 MPRC Online Seminar Series
Climatic variability and other forms of environmental change have been shown to influence many population processes, including migration, morbidity, and mortality. However, considerably less attention has been paid to the possible effects of environmental change on fertility. We address this gap by examining whether exposure to flooding influences fertility among women in Bangladesh and identifying the mechanisms through which these processes operate.
About the Speaker
Brian Thiede is Assistant Professor of Rural Sociology, Sociology, and Demography at The Pennsylvania State University. His research examines the effects of environmental change on demographic processes, including migration, fertility, and morbidity.
