Tips for using the MPRC Conference Room - Morrill 2101C

Things it's good to know. . . .

Please feel free to schedule a time for the MPRC conference room. You can use the online form to place your reservation.

The system will support Skype on your own machine (laptop) or on the machine in the room (access via web browser). There are pros and cons to each - for help.

You should also look into the University conferencing services, especially if you will be connecting with more than one person. For a video component you would need to look at the university's Adobe Connect services. These are more complicated but you might get better quality than with Skype.

How to find out available times for the room

You may want to check the calendar for the room before you fill out the form. You will need to go to email.umd.edu, make sure you are using Microsoft Outlook, and follow these steps :

  • Click on the word "Calendar" in the lower left hand navigation menu
  • In the middle left hand navigation menu, right click on "People's Calendars" and choose the option "Add new calendar"
  • A dialogue box will open; in the first blank space under "Calendar from your organization" enter the letters "MOR"
  • You will see a suggestion : "MOR2101C - MPRC Conference Room"; click on this
  • Click Ok.

You will see the calendar listed in your left-hand navigation menu. Make sure it has a check box next to it. Now you will see the days and times for which others have already reserved the room.
