Cohen research focus of Washington Post story

Falling birth rates are a long-term trend

Writing in the Washington Post, William Tan, Tara Bahrampoor, and Julianne McShane report a 4 per cent drop in in birthrate, the largest single-year drop in decades.

“Some of the things that might be driving down birthrates in the long run — like economic insecurity, the cost of health care, housing, child care and education, and our awful work-family policies — are probably things that were exacerbated in the last year,” Cohen told the authors.
