Teen parenthood TV series could be partially credited for teen birth rate drop
An interesting article published by SPIN named 30 best TV shows defined the 2010s, and among them the category of teen parenthood especially Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant released in 2009, actually had a real-world impact.
According to a 2014 report by Faculty Associate Melissa Kearney, on the contrary to most criticisms who blame teen parenthood series for glamorizing teen pregnancy, these series in fact contribute to lower teen birth rate during their broadcast period.
