Join the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) departments and programs as more than 40+ faculty members present their work in resilience research. The Department of African American Studies invites all to join Dr. Sangeetha Madhavan, Chair and Professor in African American Studies and Sociology, and Dr. Cecily Hardaway, Assistant Professor, as they present their research topics that focus on health and safety, as well as oppression/stigma in the economic sphere.
Madhavan will present her research with Dr. Michael Wagner that studies kin support on maternal mental health in Nairobi, Kenya. Hardaway will present poverty-related risks (e.g., exposure to community violence and material hardship) and adolescents’ socioemotional adjustment and academic achievement.
The event will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4:00pm-5:30pm at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union in the Grand Ballroom.
