Longitudinal Business Database (LBD)

This seminar will explain the purpose of the Longitudinal Business Database at the Census Bureau and the process by which it is created. A description of the unique challenges inherent in linking business data will be discussed as well as the record linkage techniques employed by the Census Bureau to overcome these challenges. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of the ways in which the LBD has contributed to our knowledge of the U.S. economy through both academic research and the production of national business statistics.
