Divorce, Internal Migration and their Impact on Women and Children's Health in China 1989-2011
About the Topic
I am currently analyzing the longitudinal data from China Nutrition and Health Survey for my dissertation. By observing over 9,000 households, 30,000 adults and 13,000 children, the research investigates complex inter-relationships between internal migration, family formation, public infrastructure and individual well-being among Chinese subjects. It analyzes determinants of divorce, mental well-being and health outcome of adults, and more importantly, how does parental well-being, absence and divorce affect children’s health outcomes. I will be estimating several econometric models to allow for possible feedback effects among the variables that would avoid spurious model parameter estimates. The models and analysis results will have numerous policy implications.
