Biography:
I am a health services researcher using quantitative methods to study quality, affordability, and access to health care for pregnant people and their families in the United States. I evaluate policies that could improve access to high-quality prenatal care and reduce racial disparities. I have developed and applied novel claims-based measures of prenatal care quality to uncover variation in routine care provided during pregnancy that was masked by existing measures. I have also studied the impact of safety net health care providers and social services on access to high-quality prenatal care, including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and a nurse home visiting program. In other work, I study how price and quality information can enable patients to make more informed decisions on where to seek maternal health care services. I am also pursuing new work related to use of telehealth for maternal health care, access to social services, and cost-related barriers to prenatal care services.
