SEMINAR WITH Chinyere Osuji is CANCELLED for MAY 2nd

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce that Chinyere Osuji’s Seminar scheduled for Monday, May 2nd must be cancelled. We hope to reschedule for the fall if possible.  We will not be hosting a seminar on Monday (5/2) as a result.  For logistical purposes, I will be sending out cancellation notices to everyone who has already pre-registered and will remove the zoom link for access.

About the Presentation

When theorizing interracial marriage in Brazil, scholars have relied on frameworks of racial democracy, whitening, and status exchange. Although race is regionalized in Brazil and there has been large-scale migration for over half a century, migration has been surprisingly unexamined as an important factor.. Using the 2009 Brazilian National Household Survey, this study is one of the first to tie together migration and interracial marriage— in the Brazilian context.
