Title of Talk
Estimated Impact of an Organic Diet Intervention on Pesticide Exposures to Young Children Living in Low-Income Urban and Agricultural Communities
About the Talk
Exposure to pesticides has been linked to adverse health effects in children including birth defects, learning disabilities, behavioral changes, and respiratory problems. While household use and proximity of residence and/or schools to agricultural fields may impact children's pesticide exposure levels, the dominant route of exposure for most pesticides is thru their diet. In this talk, Dr. Quiros-Alcala will go over an intervention study that was conducted in low-income children living in urban and agricultural communities in California to determine the effects of consuming an organic diet on children's pesticide exposure.
Please note that, at the present time, Morrill Hall is not accessible for handicapped individuals.
