Predictive Intelligence for Pandemic Prevention Phase I: Development Grants

NSF invites proposals to its Predictive Intelligence for Pandemic Prevention Phase I: Development Grants program supporting projects focused on fundamental research and the capabilities needed to tackle grand challenges in infectious disease pandemics through prediction and prevention. The Phase I initiative supports planning activities encompassing 1) articulation of a grand challenge centered around a critical and broad question in pandemic predictive intelligence; 2) proposals of novel conceptual research and technology developments that aim to advance state-of-the-art forecasting, real-time monitoring, mitigation, and prevention of the spread of pathogens; and 3) multidisciplinary team formation. Up to 30 awards with a combined total of $25 million may be made. Eligibility is restricted to domestic institutions of higher education and non-academic nonprofits typically associated with educational or research activities.

Proposals are due October 1, 2021
