NIH to Reduce Funding for FY2013 Awards in the Event of a Sequestration

Prospective new budget to affect non-competing continuation grants and competing awards

The NIH reports that it "continues to operate under a Continuing Resolution as described in NOT-OD-13-002, and therefore all non-competing continuation awards are currently being funded at a level below that indicated on the most recent Notice of Award (generally up to 90% of the previously committed level)."

In the event of sequestration, final levels of FY 2013 funding may be reduced and fewer competing awards may be made in order to meet agency budget requirements. NIH IC's will announce their own strategies for complying with these budget restrictions, should sequestration occur.
