Gourevitch: price of pregnancy varies
Findings show that different racial and ethnic groups have different experiences with the U.S. healthcare system
A news report by Kara Burnett highlighted Faculty Associate Rebecca Gourevitch's work on disparities in maternity care spending across racial and ethnic groups. Gourevitch's study found that Black and Hispanic mothers are paying more out-of-pocket costs that White mothers. "If people are facing high costs, it means they may skip out on some services that they might need--services that are important for their health or for their babies," noted Gourevitch.
