Philip Cohen comments on Melissa Kearney's NYT op-ed

The blog post argues against marriage promotion policies

Faculty Associate Philip Cohen, a family researcher and Professor of Sociology, recently published a response to Faculty Associate Melissa Kearney's New York Times Op-Ed, "The Explosive Rise of Single-Parent Families Is Not a Good Thing". In his blog post on Family Inequality, Cohen argues that policies that promote married two-parent households are ineffective. Instead, he points to policies that reduce economic barriers in low-income families to promote positive outcomes in children with diverse family structures.
