Congress must protect DACA receipients, Getrich argues

New opinion piece in The Hill

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program's success in allowing undocumented youths to work and study has benefited American Society, Faculty Associate Christina Getrich and colleagues write. DACA recipients made up a substantial portion of COVID-19 frontline workers, and they contribute almost $10 billion to federal, state, and local taxes each year. Yet, the future of DACA recipients has always been uncertain, as their status in the United States has been left unprotected. Getrich argues that it is now time for lawmakers to take swift action and fulfill their promises to grant these recipient permanent legal status.
