Desai publishes new book on undernutrition and public policy in India
Nearly 40 percent of the world's stunted children live in India, despite the country's economic growth in recent decades. In a book that examines the status and causes of undernutrition in India, and the effectiveness of policies aimed to alleviate it, faculty associate Sonalde Desai, along with colleagues Lawrence Haddad, Deepta Chopra, and Amit Thorat, bring to the page a thorough review of the central issue and its intricacies. Ranging from topics including nutrition and sanitation, maternal and child health, to food security, child development, and the public distribution system, the book aims to provide a comprehensive overview for the interested academic, policy maker, and development worker alike.
