About the Presentation for the Fall 2020 MPRC Online Seminar Series

Multiracial families are rapidly expanding, however, most of what is known focuses on two-parent families. Exploring cases of visible “racial difference” within families, we ask whether such cases are found among married and unmarried families. Over a forty year time span, the greatest growth of family-level racial difference occurs among white unmarried mothers.  We consider how this demographic shift signals a unique context for rearing children of color.
