About the Presentation

The Add Health cohort is a nationally representative sample of adolescents recruited from grades 7-12 during 1994-1995 school year and prospectively followed into adulthood across five waves of data collection. In this 60-minute workshop, we will provide an overview of the Add Health data, including sample design and main domains assessed in each wave. We will discuss the resources on data documentation and users guides and the mechanism for data access at the Maryland Population Research Center. This workshop is designed for doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows and other investigators interested in using Add Health data to conduct their research.

About the Speakers

Luciana Assini-Meytin will lead the discussion and  is a research faculty at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She used Add Health data to conduct her dissertation work on determinants of socioeconomic attainment among teen parents and continues to use this data in the exploration of the long-term impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on sexual health.

Sarbartha Bandyopadhyay (Bandy) will assist in the discussion.  Bandy joined MPRC in 2002 and is the information technology professional that manages the day-to-day activities of the Scientific and Technical Core. Bandy has overall responsibility for the functioning of MPRC’s equipment and networks. He supervises the Scientific and Technical Core staff and assigns priorities and responsibilities. He provides advice to associates on hardware and software configurations for their desktop computers and ensures that these services are well integrated into the MPRC network.
