About the Speaker

Andrés Villarreal

Andrés Villarreal is a new Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Maryland and a Faculty Associate at MPRC. He is also affiliated with the Center for the History of the New America. Prior to his arrival in Maryland, he was a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin. Professor Villarreal is currently engaged in a research project funded by the NICHD to study changes in Mexican migration over the past decade. He also studies race and ethnicity, crime and violence, and social inequality in the context of Latin America.
