Dan Lichter is Professor of Sociology and Research Associate, Center for Human Resources Research.Robert F. Lazarus Professor in Population Studies Director, Initiative on Population Research at Ohio State University. He received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His main areas of interest are Demography, family and children, poverty and inequality, and rural sociology. His current research focuses on the long-term consequences of childhood poverty and family instability on early adult prosocial behavior and civic involvement; patterns of mate selection and cohabitation; and welfare incentive effects on the family.
