Kenneth Leonard received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997 and joined the faculty of the University of Maryland in 2003. Before coming to Maryland, he was on the faculty of both the Department of Economics and the Program in Economic Policy Management in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
Dr. Leonard’s research focuses on the effect of asymmetric information on markets for services in rural developing economies. He is interested in the role that governments and institutions can play in development by improving the provision of services that are characterized by imperfect information. To date, his research has focused on markets for health care.

Loretta (Lori) Lynch received her B.A. and M.S. from the University of California, Davis and her PhD. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She also worked as an economist at the Economic Research Service, USDA. Her research interests include the use of spatial analysis in invasive species assessement. In 2003, Lynch gave a talk, titled "Incorporating Spatial Analysis in Invasive Species Management," at the Economics of Invasive Species Workshop.
