    will investigate links between income inequality, political behavior, and policy outcomes in local government.

    will explore the effects of neighborhood and school social organization on juvenile arrest and the extent to which school failure can be attributed to arrest.

    will pursue a qualitative study of parents, girls, and health providers to understand perceptions of vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV).

  • Odis Johnson (African American Studies)
    will examine how the impact of the social organization of learning differs within neighborhoods across two seasonal periods and between them according to their racial and social class composition.

  • Ken Leonard (Agricultural and Resource Economics)
    will explore the possible relationship between patient-care negligence and high childhood mortality in Tanzania by testing the impact of the Hawthorne effect.

  • Hanno Petras (Criminology)
    will attempt to match data from two studies which will provide a unique opportunity to understand the etiological role of risk and protective factor in multiple domains regarding official records of juvenile delinquency among urban and minority youth.
