  • Making Restricted-Use NCVS Data Available
    Current (2005-10-01 - 2006-12-31)
    ASA/BJS
    Abstract

Grant funds are sought to support activities that would make restricted-use National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) data available to researchers interested in linking victimization data with Census information on the places where NCVS respondents reside. While such data were available for a brief period of time to qualified researchers in regional Census Research Data Centers (RDCs), access was suspended in 2002 owing to concerns over data documentation, format standardization and security. This is a proposal to address and alleviate these concerns so that qualified researchers may again use the data in the RDCs.
