Events at MPRC

Each semester, MPRC hosts a Seminar Series in the Population Sciences geared at fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration among both researchers at MPRC and also among researchers outside of the university. Our past seminar series have included such well-known population researchers as Devah Pager and Bruce Western from Princeton University as well as Dan Nagin from Carnegie Mellon University.

In addition, MPRC supports and helps to faciliate several major conferences and workshops each year. Examples of past conferences include the 2005 American Time Use Survey Early Results Conference, the Explaining Family Change Workshops and many more.

Seminar Series in the Population Sciences

Current Seminar Series @ MPRC
MPRC's Seminar Series in the Population Sciences both encourages interdisciplinary exchange and also allows for more specialized exchange that helps the Center's Work Groups move their intellectual agendas forward. Currently, MPRC runs three overlapping seminar series, one general seminar series in the population sciences and two shorter (and more specialized series) in crime and population and in qualitative methods (Seminars in Spatial Analysis and Time Use are coming soon). Seminars in the shorter series are organized by MPRC's Work Groups and are cross-listed in the general series held each semester. : : MORE

Past Seminar Series @ MPRC
MPRC's Seminar Series in the Population Sciences are quite successful and are regularly attended by more than 55 faculty associates and student affiliates. MPRC has proudly hosted over 75 speakers since 2002. Other past speakers include Wendy Manning from Bowling Green State University and Roland Fryer from Harvard University.

Past Conferences and Workshops @ MPRC
Since 2002, MPRC has supported, sponsored and facilitated more than 13 major conferences and workshops that directly contributed to the field of population sciences.
