Sangeetha Madhavan, Ph.D.
Recent Scientific Accomplishments
Sangeetha Madhavan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of African-American Studies. She received her MA and PHD in Sociology and Demography from the University of Pennsylvania. She has a wide range of research interests including children's well-being, household composition and family structure, the social context of HIV/AIDS and population movement all in the context of sub-Saharan Africa. She has also worked on comparative analysis of fathering in South Africa and the US. Her recent publications appear in Population Studies, Journal of Southern African Studies and Social Networks and has contributed chapters to edited volumes. She uses both quantitative and qualitative methods in her research.
